The Ryze Tello, powered by DJI technology, could be initially perceived as a toy, but it is much more than that. With an array of features found on more expensive drones, this quadcopter is perfect for all ages and levels of experience. You can do flips, hover in place, take short videos with EZ Shots, or take off and land from the palm of your hand all from the push of a button.
Equipped with an electronic image stabilization, you know your shots and videos will smooth and in focus. The 5mp camera takes impressive stills and is capable of taking 720p video, perfect for the web and social media.
Total beginners will find it quite simple to start flying the Tello. Download the free Tello app on your smartphone and start flying in minutes with the easy to navigate interface. If you want a more tactile and precise approach to flying, you can pair a Bluetooth controller to your smartphone and fly more traditionally with joysticks.
The Tello is made with safety in mind. It comes with propeller guards and two downward facing sensors that help the Tello hover and hold position or even land on your hand. The included battery will power it for up to 13 minutes, and if the signal is bad or voltage gets low, it will automatically hover slowly to the ground.
Learn & Create
Play is an essential part of learning, so Ryze made Tello programmable with Scratch, an MIT-developed coding system allows kids and teens to learn the basics of programming while having fun. If you’re a more advanced user, you can also develop software applications for Tello using the Tello SDK.
